As you may have read, we want to live out James 1:27. And this Saturday we have the opportunity to bless a widow and help get our son home by living out James 1:27.
This is our new friend Joyce.
Joyce has a beautiful yard with a lot of bushes and gardens. Since her husband of 52 years passed away about a year and a half ago, she hasn’t been able to maintain it. There’s a long list of projects that need to be tackled. She needs help.
With an amazing team of our friends and family, we will be doing a substantial landscaping project. We’ve received donations from Home Depot, Lowes, and Ace Hardware. On Saturday, at 8am, we’ll get together, pray and start working to improve her yard and painting her bedroom (a special project she requested).
So how does this help us get our son home?
We’re asking for sponsors for our project, much like a charity golf event or 5k. Instead of running, we’re going to be helping Joyce with a project that she can’t do on her own. And because all of the materials are donated, all of the funds that we raise from this project go directly to benefit our adoption. This means that our son will get to come home very soon.
How can you help?
We still need volunteers – you can email me at showscarla [at] gmail [dot] com if you can help out!
If you are interested in sponsoring our team as we work on Joyce’s yard, you can check out our page on the Both Hands website (http://bothhandsfoundation.org/evan-and-carla-shows.aspx ) or you can mail a donation to: Lifesong for Orphans, PO Box 40, 202 N. Ford Street, Gridley, IL 61744 (make your check payable to Lifesong for Orphans and add “Preference Shows #2553” in the memo section). All donations are tax-deductible.
Lastly, please be praying for our awesome team as they give their Saturday to serve a widow, and bring home an orphan (well, actually an orphan-no-more because he has a forever family waiting for him).
Thanks to everyone for this opportunity. We especially want to thank the Both Hands Foundation and Lifesong for Orphans for helping us organize the project. Thanks also to the companies/organizations who have donated materials and supplies for the project including Home Depot of Palm Coast, Lowes of Palm Coast, and Ace Hardware of Palm Coast. Thanks to Papa Johns for providing pizza for our lunch.
If you haven’t heard of the Both Hands Foundation, you need to watch this story about the organization. We truly love and believe in what they’re doing.
