It would be easy to get distracted by the challenge that stands in front of us. It would be easy to take our eyes off of our Source. It would be easy to stop thinking about the little person on the other side of this process.

But we’re not going to do that. We remember Who is our Source. We keep our eyes fixed on Him and Him alone. He who birthed this calling in us, He who whispered Isaiah 1:17 in my ear, He who knows the face of our someday child.

We will not fear. We focus. We believe.

1 I will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
From where shall my help come?
2 My help comes from the LORD,
Who made heaven and earth.
3 He will not allow your foot to slip;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
4 Behold, He who keeps Israel
Will neither slumber nor sleep.

 5 The LORD is your keeper;
The LORD is your shade on your right hand.
6 The sun will not smite you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
7 The LORD will protect you from all evil;
He will keep your soul.
8 The LORD will guard your going out and your coming in
From this time forth and forever.

Psalm 121

  1. What a beautiful post! We falter whenever we take the eyes off the source. God has your family in the palm of His hand–including your little one far away! One thing we keep reminding ourselves is that while the daughter we are adopting is presently beyond our reach, she is well within the reach of God-a God who has never let her go and holds her past, present and future, as well as ours in His hands. I love the words you posted. Do not fear. Focus. Believe.
